It's a jungle out there

We have been covering radical career moves into and out of IT and are delighted to include John Wyatt, now head of ICT at Birmingham charity St Basils, who started life as a wildlife ecologist in Kenya.

"I spent a number of years in game parks tracking giraffe and elephant day and night, including immobilising and marking them.

I was declared persona non grata by Idi Amin and left Uganda with only a suitcase of belongings."

Taming wild beasts and dealing with unhinged bosses - good training for a career in IT, we reckon.
