Grandad: what did you do in the war?

“My grandfather, Harry Lamin, could take part in the competition for ‘oldest blogger’ that you are about to start,” writes Bill Lamin from Pool Business and Enterprise College. “He has just registered his millionth page load.”
In our experience bloggers are often a bit barmy, so they are good entertainment. But Bill has fixed the competition, so you’ll have a hard time getting the better of Harry and his blog at wwar1.blogspot.com.
The blog publishes letters, 90 years to the day, after Harry sent them from the World War One trenches. And as Harry was born in 1887, it looks like we will have to compile a top five.
We would like to hear from any other senior bloggers, and we promise we won’t call you barmy – unless you are.

Olive Riley, aged 108, who lives in an aged care hostel at Woy Woy, 50 miles north of Sydney, Australia, is probably the oldest of the world’s 112.8 million LIVING bloggers and its oldest YouTuber.

She celebrated her 108th birthday on October 20, 2007.She was born in Broken Hill in 1899, when Sydney was the capital of the British colony of New South Wales, ruled from London by an aged Queen Victoria.Physically frail but mentally alert, Olive raised her three children on her own, survived two world wars , the Great Depression of the 1930s, and worked as a barmaid, an egg sorter, and a station (ranch) cook.

Olive’s blog, The Life of Riley, http://www.allaboutolive.com.au has a huge Internet following. Prepared by her helper, international film maker Mike Rubbo, and based on his interviews with Olive, it attracts hundreds of enthusiastic comments from many countries, and from bloggers of all ages.

The London newspaper The Sun recently published a story about Olive: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/woman/real_life/article548314.ece
